One of my favorite little details about Ratatouille was the way they showed the experience of tasting the subtle qualities of food, like motion graphics for flavors. It’s treated pretty differently than the rest of the graphics in the movie but it works well with the music and the descriptions. I just stumbled across the site ofMichel Gange, who did all those little animations. It makes me remember why I love the internet. It’s a nice little treat to be able to see sort of behind the scenes with sketches and pre composited movie clips.
Independence Day
So for the day off I decided I wanted to walk to golden gardens, which is about 4.5 miles away from my house. I met up with Peter along the way and we walked over to the beach. We played in the sand and waddled through part of the water. Zach bussed and met us there later too. It was really nice and made me feel like it was actually summer…. I think it was the first summery thing I’ve done all summer.
At DK
I’ve only been there for 3 days (since yesterday was off) and like half of the people are on vacation this week, but I think it’s been nice so far. I like how laid back and casual the atmosphere is, although maybe this is just a calm before a big storm. I also enjoy the kitchen that is stocked with free food. I think every company should have free food available. I think it just makes for happier employees.
So far I’ve helped out with some stop motion stuff and some roto, which is alright. A little more production-y than I’d like but I think more things will pick up once everyone gets back in. Hopefully I’m not going to spend my entire summer doing roto, because I’ll definitely get carpal tunnel then…
Miles
I’ve started jogging & walking a bunch again. It’s nice to feel like I’m using my muscles for something. These probably aren’t very impressive to people who actually run but it’s a lot for me:
Sunday: 2.3 jogging
Tusday: 3.7 jogging 2ish walking
Wednesday: 4.5+ walking
Thursday: 4 ish walking
