Recap
This weekend was: a very tasty Italian lunch in Ballard, a very tasty home cooked dinner, playing Hoopla, watching Wedding Crashers, sleeping in, stuffing my face with Greek food, hanging out at Gasworks, and salsa dancing with live music at the Triple Door’s lounge.
Salsa
I think I am pretty much in love with Salsa dancing right now. It is so much fun and high energy and the music is good. I need to go shopping for some more appropriately scandalous dancing outfits. Last night at the Triple Door I noticed that the length of skirt seemed to have a reverse correlation with the girls level of awesomeness (shorter skirts=better dancers). Although I wonder, are they better at dancing because the short skirts attract better leads? Or are the skirts shorter just because they know they’re awesome? Maybe it’s more of a barometer of confidence.
Anyways, it’s crazy how much opportunity there is for dancing there is up here if you know where to look. I found this calendar of Latin dance events around town, and really you could go dancing every night. And it’s so cheap! (Generally either free or only about $5). Also, I think I want to go to this Salsa Congress in November. 3 days of Salsa workshops and social dancing and shows! It’s the same weekend as the Pictoplasma confrence but I don’t think I can realistically get to Berlin in November, and this is just in Bellevue so it seems much more reasonable.
3/4 of the way
In other news, my internship is up at the end of October (hence all the planning for activities in November) which is really not that far from now. As of now, I have no real life plans beyond October, other than the 2 conferences. I suppose I am sort of planning on taking November as a much needed break. But I probably need to get my butt in gear and figure out work stuff too. I don’t really know if DK is interested in keeping me on (or letting me come back) after my time is up. I’m not really sure what the proper way to ask about it is. Or rather timing wise, when would be a good time to bring it up? I think I’m waiting until October, but is that too late? I don’t know, part of me would really like some time to just work on personal projects and stuff too though. I guess we’ll see what happens.

I know it’s weird, but it’s probably not too early to ask. It’s not like they’re going to fire you if you do. I would find someone you like at the company and inquire discretely. Being on the regularly-employed side, I would be receptive to a request like that from the interns I know.
