Woolgathering & other things I’ve made

Big Word Bird #4 above.. FINALLY done with it! Yay! The compression kinda made it a little chunky, and there are a bunch of things I could tweak on it, but I resolved to be done with it by today, and I dont feel like messing with it anymore.

It only took about a month off and on, from when I first started building it. The sketches have been around for months so it’s good to finally get it out of my brain and off of the paper. Of course the parts that took the longest to make, the letters and the tree and the house, were the parts with the least screen time. I also should have know better and used a big solid stiff card in the background as opposed to a waffle blanket in front my open balcony door.

Photos of the process coming soon. I think the process of building it was actually more interesting to me than the final end result. I’m fairly happy with it, but the end piece was really just an excuse to just build something.

I’m weird
Sometimes I feel like a weirdo working on these side projects. Sitting at home on a Friday night watching chick flicks and wrapping yarn around pipe cleaners while other people are doing normal and more social things. Or spending a good part of a perfectly sunny day inside moving little things around incrementally and taking photos of it. But it just makes me so happy to make things. I think I’m a compulsive maker.

Other news
Thursday night was SIFF opening night. Made me happy to see my scenes all big on screen for the first time. Also happy to see Angelo’s booty in the bumper. The movie, Battle in Seattle, was also pretty interesting.

Friday night was, like I said, lots of chick flicks while wrapping pipe cleaners. But the cool part was that I finally got to see one of my Reese’s spots (the sharing one) on tv. I think that’s the first time I’ve seen one of mine on tv. Made me feel kind of warm and fuzzy inside, even though it’s just a silly Reeses commercial.

Went to the Michael vs Prince night last night at Nectar where I danced with mostly hot girls. There were a few skeezy bro bras there as well of course, but it was mostly just us girls, and it was awesome. Also started reading “Eat Pray Love” mainly because I see a lot of people reading it and I’m always drawn to its cover when I see it in stores. I think it’s pretty interesting so far.

Okay, now that has gotten way too long.. time to go wander around outside.
