R.I.P. James (aka fur face)

I keep crying thinking about poor James (Angelo’s Siamese, above). When I first met him a little over a year ago, he was a 16 lb tubby cat. Over the course of the year he was down to 6 lb and became more and more lethargic. He also went to the bathroom more frequently and was vomiting frequently. Turns out he had severe kidney failure and his bladder and urinary tract were filled with stones. That explains the tormented meowing every time he went to the bathroom. The vet says that the Siamese breed is more prone to these types of kidney problems, but I can’t help thinking that earlier intervention would have helped.

They said his kidneys were too far along to withstand surgery and he was living with a lot of pain, so Angelo decided to put him down yesterday. He was there with him the whole time until the end. We feel so bad for Lilly (below) who is all alone now. They use to curl up into a kitty pile at night and sleep together. She seems confused or suspicious but extra lovey this morning. She also seems to be meowing more, as if to ask “where did you take James?” So sad. = (

Aww that is so sad. I’m glad to have been able to meet him while he was still around.
